MysteryCharges collects only the information necessary to operate this service and does not sell personal data.
What we collect
When you use the charge identifier tool, we store the descriptor string you entered so we can improve future results. We do not associate this with your name, IP address, or any persistent identifier unless you are signed in.
Analytics
We use simple in-house analytics to understand which features and pages are useful. We track an anonymous session ID (a random cookie valid for 90 days), the pages you visit, and the tools you use. We do not use third-party analytics providers such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel. We do not track your IP address or build profiles of individual users. Aggregate usage data helps us improve the tools — that is all we use it for.
Cookies
We set one first-party cookie, mc_anon_sid, which contains a random identifier with no connection to your identity. It expires after 90 days. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
